October: Haunted

The real problem is the middle of the night, when my mind turns into a haunted house.
— Ashlee Gadd, "Monsters"

Phantoms. Apparitions. Ghosts.

These all tend to remind us of Scooby-Doo or campfire stories. But when it comes to motherhood, marriage, or just living, we’re all a little haunted by something. Maybe they’re tiny anxieties that we put off. They’ll circle our minds at night or even in the middle of the day. Perhaps they’re large and looming—a life-altering circumstance.

We’re all being haunted—but do we have the courage to face the ghosts? This month, take the time to address the phantoms in your life. If you need inspiration, read Ashlee’s essay, “Monsters.“
