September: Moment in Time

I wonder… what little things lay washed up on the shore of your days that signal the specific, magnificent moment you’re in?
— Adrienne Garrison

We all know the old adages—they grow up so fast, it goes so quickly, and so on. Sometimes we bristle at the comments even if our kids are past the toddler stage. Preschool, school age, tween, teen—every stage has challenges. But even then—what if they’re right?

What if we want to remember how their feet don’t quite dangle off of the couch, stick stickers to every square inch of your house, or even how they learned to fold cootie catchers? We want those moments to last an eternity. They’re fleeting.

As artists, we capture the beauty in the everyday. This month, freeze a moment in time—whether through words or images. Better yet, use Adrienne’s creative exercise, “Time Capsule,“ and see how you explore the topic. Preserve those moments while remembering the beauty in the mundane.
