Have an essay draft (or three) you want to workshop? Have a cache of writing ideas and need help deciding in what direction to take them? Maybe you’re creating a larger body of work and want to keep up momentum — or want to utilize a cost-effective source for receiving edits.
Join Sonya for this six-week accountability group focused on slow writing and thoughtful feedback.
Participants will work on the project(s) of their choice and submit up to 2000 words every two weeks. (For a total of 6000 words.) This course encourages slow writing, amidst the obligations of everyday life, making room for thoughts to marinate both in the mind and on the page.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This course will run in three two-week intervals.
At the beginning of each interval, participants will receive a brief pep talk/craft talk with creative exercises and resource links. At the end of each interval, participants will turn in up to 2,000 words for feedback from Sonya and their peers.
Interval 1: May 11 - May 24
Interval 2: May 25 - June 7
Interval 3: June 8 - June 21
Each participant will receive macro-level feedback from Sonya (no line edits) along with feedback from at least two other participants.
Writers will be placed in a Slack group to introduce themselves, ask questions, and share their work, but there is a minimal time commitment to Slack. Time and energy will focus on writing.
Sonya will check in on Slack to answer questions, but her primary role will be to create accountability and offer insightful feedback.
Every participant will be expected to leave edits on at least two other members’ writing during each interval. A feedback rubric will be provided.
Dates: May 11 - June 21
Price: $150
Spots: 10 (this course will run with a minimum of 6 participants - grab your friends!)
