October: Wait

Wait: to stay in place in expectation of : to delay serving : to remain stationary in readiness or expectation : to pause for another to catch up : to look forward expectantly : to hold back expectantly : to be ready and available

We spend a good chunk of our lives waiting, for one thing or another. Waiting in line at Trader Joe’s. Waiting for the light to turn green. Waiting for a good time to chat. Waiting for an apology. Waiting for a positive pregnancy test. Waiting for seeds to sprout. Waiting for the rain to come. Waiting for phone calls, birthdays, something special in the mailbox. Waiting for the words you’ve been longing to hear.

How does waiting make you feel? What do we do with that space in between now and whatever is coming? Do we reach for our phones and other distractions? What if we leaned in? How can we wait expectantly instead of anxiously? How can we show up for others while we wait? How can we ready ourselves for what’s to come while also enjoying the here and now?

What are you waiting for?
